We have an immediate opening in our Garland, Bedford and Houston offices for a highly organized, detail-oriented Law Office Receptionist / Legal Assistant to answer multi-line phones. Candidates must have a friendly and professional attitude with clients and staff.

Essential Functions:

  • MUST have TWO years work experience in a law office
  • Maintain professional image at all times
  • Punctual attendance essential
  • Answer, screen and direct calls for the Garland, Fort Worth and Houston offices
  • Assist secretaries with calendaring deadlines
  • Save notification of service emails
  • Manage conference room scheduling to ensure there are no conflicts
  • Communication with a professional demeanor at all times with clients, callers and staff
  • Prepare legal documents including correspondence, discovery, pleadings, etc.;
  • Schedule deadlines for pre-suits, pleadings and discover, and pre-trial/trial matters;
  • Schedule client meetings, depositions, mediations, court appearances, as well as obtaining case information and following up on attorney correspondence and filings;
  • Handle non-billable tasks for assigned attorneys, including preparing and updating active file lists;
  • Knowledge of court rules and procedures and be able to prioritize tasks accordingly;
  • Experience with e-filing documents with the court and knowledge of local, state, and federal deadlines.

Knowledge/Skills

• Should be proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Must be able to work in a high-volume, team-oriented work environment

Civil Litigation Insurance Defense Attorney

 

We are ACTIVELY seeking a Civil Litigation Insurance Defense Attorney with 10 plus years of Litigation experience to join our elite team. The Senior Litigation Attorney will have the opportunity to handle challenging legal work for many of the leading companies within our industry.

The successful candidate MUST have insurance defense and civil litigation experience. Knowledge of the insurance industry and trial experience a strong plus. The candidate MUST have motions practice, depositions and courtroom experience. The ability to work within a team environment including senior attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants is essential.

Qualifications

  • Admitted to practice in the state of Texas
  • Must have 10 plus years of defense litigation experience to be considered.
  • Experience handling general liability, professional liability, construction, complex commercial litigation, insurance defense, medical malpractice
  • Experience in drafting motions, pleadings, memoranda and briefs, discovery demands and responses a must
  • Experience handling court appearances, depositions and trial experience a plus
  • Superior communication, writing, and research skills

 

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a litigation caseload, working cases from beginning to end

Legal Assistant / Legal Assistant

 

We are ACTIVELY seeking a Civil Litigation Insurance Defense Legal Assistant  with 10 plus years of Litigation experience to join our elite team in, Garland, Bedford, and Houston, TX.  Candidates MUST have 8 plus years of Texas litigation experience with a high level of accuracy, attention to details and the ability to work under tight deadlines and assist multiple attorneys and manage the day to day office needs.

This is not a remote position.

Legal Secretary Duties include but not limited to:

  • Prepare legal documents including correspondence, discovery, pleadings, etc.;
  • Calendar reminders;
  • Schedule deadlines for pre-suits, pleadings and discover, and pre-trial/trial matters;
  • Schedule client meetings, depositions, mediations, court appearances, as well as obtaining case information and following up on attorney correspondence and filings;
  • Transcribe dictation and review attorney-generated correspondence and documents, ensuring adherence to court-mandated guidelines;
  • Handle non-billable tasks for assigned attorneys, including preparing and updating active file lists;
  • Facilitate a consistent approach to file management and client representation;
  • Knowledge of court rules and procedures and be able to prioritize tasks accordingly;
  • Experience with e-filing documents with the court and knowledge of local, state, and federal deadlines.

 

Skills required:

  • Strong knowledge of MS Word;
  • An intermediate knowledge of Excel;
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality required;
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-pace environment and work well with team members.

Paralegal

 

The Willis Law Group has an immediate opening for a self-motivated full time Paralegal to join our fast-paced legal team. Candidates MUST have at least 5 plus years of high volume litigation experience with a high level of accuracy, attention to details and the ability to work under tight deadlines and assist multiple attorneys.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Must be able to bill time.
  • Bilingual with ability to translate from Spanish to English and English to Spanish a plus
  • Ability to work in a paperless environment
  • Follow Insurance Guidelines
  • Prepare legal documents including correspondence, discovery, pleadings, shells, etc.;
  • Calendar reminders
  • Ability to handle large volume of emails
  • Schedule deadlines for pre-suits, pleadings and discovery, and pre-trial/trial matters;
  • Schedule client meetings, depositions, mediations, court appearances, as well as obtaining case information and following up on attorney correspondence and filings;
