My name is Amy Pollock, and I live in the city of Dallas. I have for the last 20 years, and I currently work at the Garland North office of The Willis Law Group on Naaman Forest Boulevard, which we affectionately call “G2” in-house.
What Is Your Background?
I grew up in the Northeast and went to the University of Connecticut (UConn) for my undergrad. I attended Penn State for law school, and I moved to Texas in 2003. I have been practicing civil litigation in the Dallas area ever since.
What Areas of Practice Do You Focus On?
I currently focus on complex litigation cases, primarily trucking and transportation cases, as well as some premises liability cases. I also handle coverage work and insurance fraud investigation for some of our clients. In the past, I have done quite a bit of medical malpractice work.
What Is Your Most Memorable Case?
A favorite case of mine from several years ago involved working with Kirk Willis on a matter related to a fire inside a trailer. Tragically, a man died inside, presumably from carbon monoxide poisoning. This case stands out because of the aggressive civil litigation investigation we undertook immediately after receiving it. By quickly gathering evidence and engaging a causation and origin expert, we were able to prove our client had no connection to the fire’s cause. Although it was a tragic and stressful case, we were proud to secure a favorable outcome for our client.
What Is Your Greatest Accomplishment?
I believe my greatest accomplishment is ensuring my clients are happy with the outcomes we achieve. Being a trial lawyer can be very stressful for clients unfamiliar with the legal system, and it’s important that the result is something they can accept. For me, it’s not just about winning or losing—it’s about handling the facts and circumstances we’re given to achieve the best possible outcome.
What I hold most dear are compliments and recognition from peers I respect, such as judges or mediators. I recall one mediator in Dallas telling me I had changed their mind about my client’s liability during mediation. Initially, they believed my client was responsible, but after reviewing the facts and hearing my argument, they concluded my client was not liable. Moments like that make me proud of the work I do.
What Do You Like About Being an Attorney?
I enjoy the variety of cases I handle. Every case has a unique fact pattern and introduces me to different clients, experts, and challenges. Even if the category of a case is the same, such as a trucking accident or a slip-and-fall, each one has its own unique footprint, which keeps my work interesting and fresh.
What Do You Like About Living in Dallas, TX?
I love the variety of things to do in Dallas—arts, theater, concerts, and sporting events are all nearby. I also appreciate how easy it is to access Texas’ beautiful natural landscapes. Within about half an hour, you can enjoy the outdoors and take in the beauty of this state, something I’ve made the most of since moving here.
What Is A Fun Fact About You?
I play trivia every month as part of a team and have recently started playing pickleball, which is a fun way to stay active and de-stress after work. I also try to bring fun to the firm. I tend to be the one that they go to to get group organization things going. We’ll be hosting a chili cook-off soon!
What Are Your Charitable Endeavors?
I focus much of my charitable giving on food banks in Texas. I support the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas, as well as the East Texas Food Bank, which serves a region with significant need. The East Texas Food Bank isn’t as well-known in the DFW area, but it plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity in the eastern part of the state.
Another cause close to my heart is a North Texas dog rescue, where I adopted my beloved sheepdog. I always make sure they receive my support, whether on giving days or whenever donations are needed. These causes mean a great deal to me, and I’m grateful to contribute in any way I can.
